An Introduction to the Green Series
Don't we live in a beautiful world? I find myself constantly looking around in endless awe of it. Breathing in fresh air, rambling over rolling hills, taking in views of snowy mountains, or submerging myself through crashing waves. I am the definition of an 'earth lover'. I love everything about being outside, being wild; going back to nature, back to earth, back to our roots.
Saying all that, I live and work in a city and so, in fact, I am constantly surrounded my human impact and development. It makes the contrast so much greater when I do get to head outside into the wild, and it makes it all the more obvious how much we need to look after our environment - seeing rubbish littering the streets and canals of central Manchester; exhaust fumes creating a bubble of dirty air that we must breath; constant human consumption on the busy shopping streets of the city centre. These are things that I see almost every day in my life; things that I've been finding more and more frustrating as I realise there are such small and simple ways we can all make a difference and lessen our impact.
"Sooner or later, we will have to recognise that the Earth has rights too, to live without pollution. What mankind must know is that human beings cannot live without Mother Nature, but the planet can live without humans."

If you read my blog, it's probably because you enjoy or love the outdoors in some way or another. And if you love the outdoors, then you should want to protect it. It's impossible to escape environmental issues at the moment. It seems like - within my circles at least - everyone is talking about ways to use less plastic, be more-eco friendly and, ultimately, reduce your carbon footprint.
The Green Series is my answer to that. As I learn about these issues myself, I want to spread awareness in a really straight-forward, no-frills, no jargon way through a series of blogposts. These will outline some really simple ways you can protect our planet, or at the very least be more mindful as to the options you have.
I never want to preach anything on Instagram or on my blog, because I'm certainly no saint: I forget to bring a reusable plastic bag now and again; I buy food packaged in plastic; sometimes if I'm feeling lazy I'll drive my car when I could walk in 15 or 20 minutes; I eat meat, which is one of the worst things for the environment. The point is, despite admitting all that, I am taking small steps and making little decisions to reduce my own personal impact on the environment, things that I think we could all be doing. I still have a long way to go, so why not join me on my own journey?
I'd love to have some feedback from what you'd like to learn about, anything you think I should know, or anything I should be doing to look after the earth.
I hope you enjoy the series! My first post on reducing your carbon footprint will be appearing very soon.
